The player was born on October 14, 1993, in Orlando, Florida, to his father, Matt Williams Sr. The name of his mother has not been revealed till now.

Williams signed with the Miami Heat for the 2017-18 season after playing for the club in the Summer League. 

On October 15, 2017, the Heat converted Williams’s contract into a two-way contract. It meant that he could split his playing time between the Heat and the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the NBA G League affiliate of the Miami Heat. 

He started the season by playing for the Heat for a week and then in the Sioux Falls Skyforce. On December 20, he was back with the Heat. 

Williams played three matches for the Miami Heat in the whole season. On December 31, 2017, he was released from the contract.

The Sioux Falls Skyforce later reacquired Williams, and he played for the club for a year.

International Career

On September 12, 2018, Williams signed with the KTP Basket of the Finnish Korisliiga and played for the team for four months.

Matt joined Kymi of the Greek Basket League in January 2019 and played 12 games for the club in six months.

Due to the global pandemic, the officials canceled the 2019-2020 season, so he had to return to the US. 

Williams joined GTK Gliwice of the Polish Basketball League on August 11, 2021, where he played 13 games for the team. 

On December 11, 2021, Matt signed with Lavrio of the Greek Basket League; then, on July 2022, he played with the Supersónicos de Miranda of the Venezuelan SuperLiga.

Injuries

Since Matt joined UCF, he was on the rise in his career. However, the circumstances didn’t allow him to have a smooth time. 

In his first year, Williams had a medical injury as he suffered from an acute appendix and had to undergo surgery.

The medical condition hampered his sports, and he had setbacks in some games. 

In his sophomore year, he suffered from a knee injury, which kept him out of the games for some weeks.

The damage was severe, as the knee pain was due to the inferior bipartite patella, a rare condition that had to be faced with surgery.

With the surgery, he had to miss significant games of the season. Fortunately, that wasn’t the end of his basketball career, and he got a second chance at UFC.
