While Taylor Swift is extending an olive branch to Nicki Minaj, there is no hope that she will ever make peace with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.
While promoting her chart-topping album, Lover, Taylor spoke about the incidents with Kanye and Kim by saying this to the Guardian: “When people are in a hate frenzy, and they find something to mutually hate together, it bonds them. And anything you say is in an echo chamber of mockery.”
The country darling turned pop star and political activist opened up about the 2015 incident with Nicki Minaj. The famous rapper from New York tweeted about losing to “white women with very slim bodies” at the 2015 VMAs.
Taylor responded by “Maybe one of the men took your slot.” Taylor said the little drama with Nicki helped her understand “a lot about how my privilege allowed me to not have to learn about white privilege. I didn’t know about it as a kid, and that is privilege itself, you know? And that’s something that I’m still trying to educate myself on every day. How can I see where people are coming from, and understand the pain that comes with the history of our world?”
It has been a decade since Kanye infamously interrupted Taylor as she was delivering her speed at the 2009 MTV Video Music.
Awards, but it looks like the diva is still holding a grudge over the incident, and she has made that clear recently.
The singer and songwriter recently referenced the incident at the red carpet of this year’s event during an interview.
When she was asked how she felt about the event and what she planned to do after coming home, she explained that “You never know what can happen on the show, as I’ve learned.” The singer eventually took home a Video of the Year award and seemed quite happy about it.
For now, Taylor seems to be enjoying her growing popularity and has been putting a lot of effort into making it clear to her fans that she is not going to let some of the negative moments from her past ruin her career.
