An Indiana University student has been found dead in his dormitory room by campus police performing a welfare check at the request of the victim’s brother.
Jose Mario 'Joma' Leonardo, 20, from Indianapolis, was found unresponsive in an Eigenmann Hall room in Bloomington last Thursday.
IU police officers went to Leonardo's room at 6.40pm to perform a welfare check after being contacted by his brother, who told them he had not heard from him in a while.

SharePolice said Leonardo appeared to have been dead for some time. No foul play is suspected at this time, reported Indianapolis Star.
Leonardo was a junior and a resident life coordinator at IU. He was expected to graduate next year.
His brother Koji Leonardo revealed in a Facebook post that preliminary autopsy results showed no signs of self-harm or foul play.
He also wrote that so far no cause of death has been determined.

Leonardo was a member of the group College Democrats at Indiana University, which posted a note on its Facebook page mourning his death.
‘Those who knew Joma were inspired by his dedication to progressive change, and we will work towards making the change he wanted to see in order to honor his legacy. He will be dearly missed,’ the post read.
